In a recent Instagram post, Djamila Ribeiro highlighted the inspiring journey of Lorena Cabnal, co-founder of the territorial community feminist movement in Guatemala and the Red de Sanadoras Ancestrales del Feminismo Comunitario:<\/p>\n

For Cabnal, it is essential to work to heal our bodies that have been made sick by the patriarchal system in order to fight for our emancipation.<\/em><\/p>\n

As a survivor of sexual violence, she criticizes the rivalry imposed by the patriarchal system that divides us and invokes the plural wisdoms of healing from grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and sisters, so that we recognize our power.<\/em><\/p>\n

She believes in the community feminist intentionality of promoting healing policies. “Healed bodies are bodies that emancipate,” she says.<\/em><\/p>\n

May we, as women, increasingly understand the importance of these powerful teachings and work collectively to promote healing among us.<\/em><\/p>\n
