At historic Spelman, I had the honor of being at the first college for Black women in the US, founded in 1881, a space full of history and struggle. I was warmly received by professors and students of the Portuguese department, and then I had the pleasure of giving a public lecture that brought together various areas of knowledge. It was a joy to have a full auditorium,&#8221; she celebrated.<\/p>\n<p>At the end, the event organizers prepared a surprise for Djamila.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a special touch, the academic community surprised me at the happy hour after the lecture with a performance by the talented Maria Kamila, a doctoral candidate recognized for her participation in The Voice 2019. To the tune of &#8216;Ribeir\u00e3o de Luz&#8217; by Margareth Menezes, a song that always deeply moves me, I could not hold back my emotions,&#8221; revealed the philosopher, who, after this first tour of &#8216;Where We Stand&#8217;, returns to New York to resume teaching at NYU.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were many moments that remain in my heart. The tour of the University in Georgia, the recordings for the documentary, and the celebration banquets were some of them. I met many incredible people interested in the multiplicity of voices. Tomorrow, I land in New York to continue the schedule of classes at NYU. But I am certain that I will return to this land where I was so happy.
