Great news for those who follow Djamila Ribeiro’s editorial work abroad: the launch tour of the Italian editions of the works Place of Speech (Il Luogo della Parola) and Short Anti-racist Guide (Piccolo manuale anti-razzista e femminista) by Capovolte publisher is confirmed. It will be the writer’s second visit to Italy for work, where she was in 2022 to participate in the Turin International Book Fair.
The tour is scheduled to take place between the 10th and 21st of April. With times and places still to be defined, activities are planned for the cities of Milan, Bologna, Florence, Naples and closing in Rome, with the confirmed presence of the Italian writer Igiaba Scego, who prefaces the translation of Place of Speech.
In an interview with the website, Djamila spoke of her excitement for her second trip to the country: “The first time I went to Italy for releasing my work it was very special. I was at the Turin Book Fair, I met people with incredible anti-racist and feminist works and I felt very welcome. On this second trip, I intend to delve deeper into the debate and interactions with the readers”.
