Speaking to readers, she also recalled her previous visits to the Pará capital, including her participation in the 23rd Pan-Amazon Book and Multivoices Fair (Feira Pan-Amazônica do Livro e das Multivozes) in 2019, held at the Hangar Convention and Trade Fair Center (Centro de Convenções e Feiras da Amazônia).

“I’m very happy to be back in Belém. The last time I was here for a book launch was at the Feira do Livro Pará-Amazônica. I came back afterward for other engagements, and I also came for Círio de Nazaré, the city’s major Catholic procession. I’m very happy now to be able to bring the expanded edition of Lugar de Fala,” she said.

Originally published in 2017 as the first title in the Coleção Feminismos Plurais (Plural Feminisms Collection), Lugar de Fala was released in a revised, expanded edition by Rosa dos Tempos in 2026. The new volume runs 476 pages and includes four previously unpublished chapters, along with updated data, new intellectual references, and research she has conducted in recent years. The edition features a foreword by Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and an introduction by Portuguese writer and artist Grada Kilomba.

The new edition also marks an editorial shift. In 2026, Lugar de Fala and part of the Coleção Feminismos Plurais moved to Grupo Editorial Record, under its Rosa dos Tempos imprint.

Racial Equity Pact

Djamila’s schedule in Belém continued on Wednesday, the 26th, when she took part in the Second Conference on Best Practices for Racial Equity (II Jornada de Boas Práticas para a Equidade Racial), organized by the Pará State Court of Accounts (Tribunal de Contas do Estado do Pará, TCE-PA).

The initiative is part of the racial-equity policy developed by the agency, which established the Interinstitutional Pact for Racial Equity (Pacto Interinstitucional Pró-Equidade Racial) in 2024 to bring together public and private institutions in efforts to address racial discrimination and inequality.

Coordinated by the Alberto Veloso School of Public Accounts (Escola de Contas Alberto Veloso, ECAV), the pact focuses on training, the exchange of experiences, and the spread of antiracist practices as part of the Court’s educational and advisory work.
