Pina Ball: Djamila Ribeiro Highlights Encounters, Solidarity, and Love for Art at the 120th Anniversary of the Pinacoteca of São Paulo

Professor Djamila Ribeiro chaired the organizing committee of the Pina Ball, held on September 16. The benefit event marked the 120th anniversary of the Pinacoteca of São Paulo, one of Brazil’s most important museums. In addition to her institutional role, Djamila also wrote the afterword of the commemorative book published for the occasion, reaffirming her commitment to valuing art as a collective good and as part of the country’s historical heritage. “As a board member and patron, my commitment is to work on behalf of this important museum,” Djamila wrote on her Instagram profile.
One of the evening’s most emotional moments was her meeting with singer and composer Paulinho da Viola, a reference in Brazilian music and Black culture. “I was moved to have presented and met the great Paulinho da Viola, who graced this night of solidarity,” she noted.
