Last Thursday, the 10th, Professor Djamila Ribeiro was in Florianópolis, the capital of Santa Catarina, to open the 25th edition of Concarh, the Santa Catarina Congress on People Management. It marked the Brazilian philosopher’s return to the city after a decade, in an event that brought together over four thousand people.

Considered the largest state-level HR congress in the country, Concarh provided Professor Djamila with an important space to reflect on the importance of amplifying diverse voices within organizations. “It was an excellent opportunity to build bridges and foster reflections,” she highlighted on her Instagram.

Before taking the stage, Djamila went live on “Jornal do Almoço” on NSC TV (an affiliate of Rede Globo in Santa Catarina), in a historic interview conducted by two Black journalists: Edsoul and Carol Fernandes. “I think it was the first time in Brazil that I was interviewed by two Black journalists on a TV program. It was an emotional and symbolic moment,” she shared on social media.

The presence of the Brazilian philosopher reinforced the urgency of an HR that is prepared to listen to the voices of the present and the future, capable of recognizing and valuing the plurality that shapes our society.

“It is essential that organizations understand that diversity is not a secondary issue, but rather a structural one for the healthy development of any professional environment,” she emphasized.

Professor Djamila thanked the Brazilian Association of Human Resources Santa Catarina Chapter for the invitation and support, and also mentioned the warm reception from the local audience. “To the companions in Florianópolis who invited me so kindly, I promise to come back. I’ve never held a book launch event in the capital of Santa Catarina, and I think it’s time,” she noted.

“We keep going!”, she concluded.
