Djamila Ribeiro Joins the Power Trip Summit 2025 in Salvador: Philosophy, Identity, and Social Transformation in Focus

Philosopher, writer, and professor Djamila Ribeiro is one of the confirmed speakers at Power Trip Summit 2025, which reaches its 11th edition and takes place from May 25 to 27 in Salvador, Bahia. Organized by Marie Claire magazine, the event brings together some of Brazil’s most influential women leaders for three days of powerful debates, cultural experiences, and transformative connections.

With the theme “Intelligence: Influence | Innovation | Identity”, this year’s gathering invites reflection on the pillars that shape contemporary female leadership. Djamila, recognized both nationally and internationally for her work in the anti-racist struggle and Black feminism, is expected to enrich the discussions with the strength of her intellectual and political journey.

Author of works such as Pequeno Manual Antirracista (The Little Anti-Racist Handbook) and Lugar de Fala (Place of Speech), Djamila advocates for the importance of recognizing the social markers that shape the experiences of Black women in Brazil. For her, thinking about innovation and identity involves decolonizing thought, denaturalizing privilege, and building narratives in which all people can recognize themselves as political subjects.

The Brazilian philosopher also emphasizes in her work that conversations about leadership, protagonism, and innovation must take into account the structural inequalities that intersect race, gender, and class. Her presence at the Summit will be an invitation to active listening and shared responsibility in building a more just and plural society.

As Professor Djamila reminds us in Pequeno Manual Antirracista:

“We must learn from the history of Black feminism, which teaches us the importance of naming oppressions — for we cannot fight what has no name.”

The event’s opening will be hosted by Rita Batista, with other confirmed guests including Daniela Mercury, Flora Gil, Marina Sena, and Macaé Evaristo. The Power Trip Summit returns to Salvador six years after its last edition in the city, reinforcing the symbolic and cultural strength of the Bahian capital as a stage for encounters that celebrate diversity.

More than just a forum of ideas, the Summit offers a full sensory experience, blending content, art, music, and gastronomy — with Bahia’s soul resonating in every detail.

The 2025 edition is sponsored by MSD, O Boticário, and Vivo; supported by Magalu and Dove; in partnership with GOL and Smiles; and hosted at the Fera Palace Hotel. For more information, visit Marie Claire’s website.
